Reclaiming Women's Rightful Power
The ignored part of our being holds the key to choosing an abortion — or not
When we take a limited view of who we really are, we hand over much of our power to external circumstances or people. Like politicians who enact abortion bans to score cheap political points, heedless of the suffering these laws cause.
So, amid the raging debate, rancor, and condemnation over abortion, take a timeout. Consider, at least for a moment, a wider realities approach. One that involves all of self, not just half of our being.
Do recall that the whole self is more than just physical and mental (conscious mind). The entire self is also emotional (subconscious mind) and spiritual (unconscious mind).
The narrow, half-of-self approach to abortion consists of taking drugs to end the pregnancy or undergoing surgical abortion. When safe abortion is unavailable, women have tried many other dangerous, painful ways to end a pregnancy. Like throwing themselves downstairs. Using a coat hanger. Or ingesting noxious, toxic substances. All in a desperate attempt to induce a miscarriage.
And the wider realities, all-of-self approach? That way takes advantage of the four soul senses to communicate with the soul wanting to be born and the emotional body to connect heart to heart with that soul.
Soul-to-Soul Communication
Something like this. Using her soul senses, a pregnant woman talks directly to the soul wanting to be born in a physical body. She tells that soul why she wants not to give birth and then asks the soul to remove its energy from the fetus. Since the woman’s will prevails in this situation, the soul departs and the pregnancy ends.
It’s really that simple. But do NOT equate simple with easy.
There are complications, starting with just making contact. When we inhabit physical bodies, we use our physical senses to communicate with each other.
But to connect with a soul not in a physical body, we turn to our nonphysical senses. Our four soul senses. Also known as psychic senses, intuition, instinct, hunches, etc.
I recorded a series of videos about these soul senses. What they are and how they work. That series begins here.
Whatever label we choose for them, we have been conditioned and programmed since birth to distrust the soul senses. To devalue them and regard them as flaky or irrational.
Just like we demean the half of self out of which the soul senses arise. The much derided spiritual-emotional side of our whole being. The side of our being that holds our will for ourselves and our power.
The tragic upshot? Most people have a hard time believing or trusting any information they receive intuitively. Yet it is every bit as valid as the physical information that bombards us day and night.
One caveat here. Intuitive information is by no means perfect and not always accurate. Especially when we doubt ourselves and second-guess what we receive intuitively.
But the same holds for our physical senses and our exalted rational mind (mental body). We don’t always receive perfect information through our physical senses, either.
Yet when that happens, we don’t discount our physical sense or our rational minds. We simply acknowledge that we didn’t hear something correctly. Or we added a column of figures wrong. Or we could not figure out what is wrong with the refrigerator.
Giving Intuition Its Due
The physical senses are not perfect but we still use and rely on them. Let’s extend the same standard to our non-physical senses. We use them the best that we can. Frequent practice with the soul senses makes us much more competent and confident about the information we receive through them.
Another complication is the pregnant woman’s possible guilt, shame, or hesitation. Seeking an abortion is still stigmatized. TV shows and movies avoid the topic altogether, while constantly celebrating motherhood and relentlessly hammering the message that having children is the only way a woman can be truly fulfilled.
That is entirely up to each woman to decide for herself. Women are not childbirth chattel or broodmares. They have the same spiritual right to personal autonomy as do men.
But such is our current state, confining the accepted parts of our being only to the physical and mental. We thereby limit our power and our choices. But, if we live out of our entire being, we give ourselves the option to resolve an unwanted pregnancy without depending on others’ consent or approval.
Ready for the wider realities approach? It is far kinder and more compassionate for all involved, including the soul wanting to be born. All it means for that soul is delay. The woman is free to move on with her life.
All right. Suppose we trust enough to believe that there is a soul to contact and we want to do so. What are the practical steps?
We have a number of options. One is outlined in Raymond A. Moody’s Reunions—Visionary Encounters with Departed Loved Ones.
It’s called the psychomanteum—the mirror gazing technique employed by the ancient Greeks to speak to departed loved ones. We can apply it to souls wanting to be born, too.
Another approach is The Afterlife Healing Circle—How Anyone Can Contact the Other Side. I coauthored this book with my late wife a few years before she died. This book teaches a method on contacting souls using a small group of friends.
Third, we can ask a medium to help us speak to the soul and ask it to leave. But it may be tough to find a medium willing to do this. Especially in a state like Texas, which allows civil court lawsuits with stiff penalties against anyone who aids in an abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected.
There is a fourth choice. Any woman can, on her own, meditate and connect soul-to-soul. She then speaks with the soul wanting to be born in a physical body and tells it to leave, ending the pregnancy.
How to do that is the topic of my next article in this series.
What an incredibly insightful and empowering essay. Thank you much.
